City of Camebridge Projection Mapping
Animation
Cambridge and the Historic Post Office
The City of Cambridge and the Digital Lights group host various live shows on the old post office building throughout the year. These shows consist of projected animations that are combined with music for everyone to enjoy. The projected themes change seasonally and provide something that everyone can enjoy. The projections give an artistic vibe to the city, encouraging tourism and relocation, bringing more people to Cambridge. The theme for this show was “I Live Here.”
Design Process
“I Live Here” can mean many things; it could be a place in your mind or an existing element. As cities develop, our homes are often being shared with the local wildlife. More and more the wildlife is adapting to our presence, interacting with us and the spaces we live in. This means we must share our homes with them. The above inspired the overall design for the animation, which features local wildlife found in Cambridge showcasing their interaction with our space. As the projection is done on a dark brick building at night, the colours are vibrant and bold, ensuring effective visuals when displayed. The animation is playful and done in a stained glass style that is captivating and bold.
